Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Beverage sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.55%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICGIN), which rose 4.46% or 96.00 points to trade at 2,248.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE) added 4.07% or 40.60 points to end at 1,038.00 and Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) was up 3.66% or 19.00 points to 537.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were M&G Plc (LON:MNG), which fell 2.49% or 5.20 points to trade at 203.90 at the close. Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) declined 2.13% or 8.10 points to end at 372.00 and AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) was down 2.10% or 258.00 points to 12,050.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1187 to 611 and 676 ended unchanged.

Shares in Rentokil Initial PLC (LON:RTO) fell to 3-years lows; falling 2.13% or 8.10 to 372.00.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.44% or 36.65 to $2,579.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 3.25% or 2.19 to hit $69.50 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.75% or 1.94 to trade at $72.55 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.36% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 101.50.
